H: 186mm Dia: 186mmDresser was studious in his efforts to understand new techniques of production and, most importantly, reconsider artefacts from a viewpoint of use, manufacture and symbolic value. He rejected the contemporary Victorian penchant for rich decoration. The restrained form and palette of this vase illustrates his innovative approach to a traditional object. Dresser was a fervent supporter of scientific progress and the new machine age.
He associated simplicity with progress and this informed his economic use of materials.
