Mario Bellini’s 1970s work for Olivetti had an enormous impact on information technology product design in the following decade, notably at Apple. “Steve [Jobs] not only wanted our design to be the best in the computer industry, he also wanted Apple to be in the 1980s what Olivetti had been in the 1970s – an undisputed leader in industrial design,” according to Apple designer Ken Campbell.
The Logos 43PD is a desktop calculator with a vacuum fluorescent display and printing mechanism. The mass of the calculator is separated into two distinct parts: the forward section with the keyboard; and the rear section with the printing mechanism.
